Forgiveness like Esau...
Today in my prayer and devotions, I read about the story of Jacob and Esau. Man was Jacob a crook. Jacob spent a lot of time trying to out do his brother Esau. He manipulated, tricked, lied, and even took advantage of Esau. First He took Esau's Birthright. Then Jacob takes from Esau his last right as the oldest Son, His Blessing. With the help of his mother, Jacob was able to trick his father into giving the blessing to him. Can you imagine how mad Esau was. The bible says that he was so mad that he began to think how he would kill his brother. So Jacob flees for his life.
After all that mess, you would think just like Jacob did. That when he returned home he would be killed by His brother Esau. Instead Esau came with love and forgiveness. He did the unexpected. He did something so many of us would suffer to do. He forgave the one who took his inheritance and his blessing.
IWhen was the last time you showed forgiveness and love to those who least expected it? What a signal you would send to those who never thought you could possibly forgive them. Maybe even enough that they would come to know Jesus Christ as their savior as well.
Think about how you can show forgiveness this week...
